The carbon brush maintenance

When the carbon brush are working,it should be contacted with commutator and slip rings well. So we should strengthen the maintenance job. It include following aspects:1)The surface which carbon brushes contact with the commutators or slip rings should inosculate very well. And the distance between carbon brush and the circle of commutator should be equal.2)We must screw when the bolt become flexible because of the electric motor vibrancying.The distance of carbon brush holders between the commutator facade.Generally speaking,the carbon brushes are fixuped on the central line. We can not move the carbon brush holder at random.4)We should examine carbon brushes regularity.The easy way is to carry carbon brush,which can assure wheather the carbon brush are running in the brush holder naturally. If we find the carbon brush are block in the brush holder we must whet the carbon brush and clean up the aperture of the brush holder. The another problem is the carbon brush welded with the brush holders. The reason of which is the pressure to carbon brush is not equal and the contact resistance reduced.

5)We should examine the stress of carbon brush generally.The pressure of carbon brush is the important guarantee for the carbon brush working stability.Because now we still use screw spring largely and the stress of this one will be reduced with the abrasion of carbon brush.So we have to adjust the pressue of the spring at any moment. And the different grade of carbon brush have can permit different stress of the spring.The same electric motor should use the same grade carbon brushes to reach the uniformity sprice pressure. 6) We should examine the stress of carbon brush generally. And the carbon brush wearing degree should be given especially attention. The lower of commutator and slip ring we should examing carefully because we can not see when it is running.The carbon brush will be stopped when it was weared too much to run if the carbon brush have the capability of cut-off.If we do not give replacing the other carbon brushes will increase additional burden. And when the carbon brush used too much the copper wire or rivet will contact with the commutator or slip ring.Then,there will make trouble with the electric motor.

7) We should examine the accessories of carbon brush generally.Firstly,we need to examine wheather the accessories are working in gear.The press finger and press ban will be reptured when the carbon brush vibrancy greatly.Secondly,we have to see wheather there is phenomena which copper wire escaped from the carbon brush. And to see whether there is phenomena which assemblage parts become flexible.And to see whether there is phenomena which copper wire has been oxidated.

8) We should examine the vibration of carbon brush generally.The carbon brush vibration has many factors when the electric motor are working. Such as the commutator has protruding blade and concave blade;the commutator's surface has been burnned badly;mica plake protrude;the commutator eccentricity; To the low speed electric motor,the carbon brushes'vibration can be measured by dial gauge.To the high speed electric motor the carbon brushes'vibration can be measured by oscillograph or vibrometer.
